The visitor who will be at the archeological site of Vergina, will stand in awe before the greatness of the Macedonian history. The Royal Tombs, the luxurious and elaborate golden creations, the offerings, the magnificent frescoes and all the findings that have come to light, testify to the strength and robustness of the Macedonian civilization, which reached the ends of the world.
Another stop in the course of the Apostle Paul, was Veria. Together with Silas, they arrived in the city and specifically in the synagogue, where Paul did the teaching of the Gospel in front of a noble and receptive audience, among which were wealthy Jews and many women. In fact, today, the place where the Apostle is said to have stood, preaching the Gospel, has been imposingly formed and is called “the Step of the Apostle Paul”.

8:00 a.m.
Early in the morning, we start from the center of Thessaloniki and head to Pella. The journey takes about an hour and a half. At 9.30 we arrive at the first stop of our trip, the Archaeological Museum of Pella.
The Museum of Pella, the city that gave birth to the “greatest of the kings of Macedonia”, Alexander, is a jewel of modern architecture and is fully in harmony with the natural landscape. We have the opportunity to admire more than 3,000 exhibits, dating from the Bronze Age to the late Hellenistic period, as the area has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC. Among them, we will single out some of the most beautiful examples of mosaic works, such as the god Dionysus and the abduction of Helen by Theseus. The colors, patterns and depictions of the representations and faces capture the main features of this unique art, imbued with elements of the time. In this extremely interesting museum, we will stay for about two hours until our departure for the archeological site of Vergina, at 11.30.
Half an hour separates us from Vergina and the Royal Tombs in the ancient necropolis of Aigai. Here, we will move on to another era. Passing the entrance of the museum, the dark and imposing atmosphere fills us with awe. The historical narratives, in combination with the unique and extremely impressive findings of the era of the Macedonian Hegemony, take us back to a glorious past. They allow us to taste for a while the glamor of a wonderful time. Luxurious jewelry, ornate gold creations, mosaics and colorful murals, amazingly detailed miniatures, carved in ivory, are a few of the museum’s exhibits that amaze visitors of all ages.
After the tour of the museum, we will have the opportunity to enjoy our coffee and food in the surrounding area. Then, “full” of images and experiences, we will board the bus in order to return to Thessaloniki.
